Who are we?

ABOUT US

H[t] Duo was born from the encounter between classical guitar and live electronics. Pierpaolo Dinapoli and Matteo Tundo explore what happens when the physicality of an acoustic instrument interacts with real-time electronic processes, shaping performances in which electronics are played, transformed, and diffused live.

On stage, the focus is on the interaction between the two performers and the sound space around them: microphone placement and spatialization become compositional tools, creating immersive environments.

The duo has performed at festivals and research centers in Italy, Austria, Germany, and Canada, including Out of the Ordinary (Konstanz), Fondazione Piseri (Milan), Modena Contemporanea, Signal to Noise Festival (Pergine Valsugana), Alte Schmiede (Vienna), CIRMMT and Université de Montréal.
H[t] Duo is also a founding member of Manifattura Digitale del Suono, a platform dedicated to new music research and production.

COMPOSERS WE WORKED WITH

The duo’s work grows through direct collaborations and commissions: rather than adapting existing repertoire, they develop a specific language for classical guitar and live electronics together with the composers involved.
Among those who have written for H[t] Duo are Maria Vittoria Agresti, Ariadna Alsina Tarres, Nicoletta Andreuccetti, Jérôme Combier, Stylianos Dimou, Daniela Fantechi, Claudio Panariello, and Daniele Vulpiani.

VISION

We believe that classical guitar can discover new expressive possibilities through technology, while preserving its identity. Our repertoire develops from a chamber-music-like dialogue, where both performers share equal artistic agency in shaping the sound.

Our work focuses on the perception of space: diffusion and microphone techniques serve not to amplify, but to craft immersive sound environments where acoustic and electronic elements merge.

Bringing together tradition and experimentation allows us to let past and present question each other — a space where the guitar opens to new possibilities and new sonic imaginaries.
